Eccleston, born 8 April 1840; teacher; resident, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) Sarah Emily Chamberlin (died 10 October 1916, Buenos Aires, Argentina) Sara Eccleston (graduated from Bucknell University, 1858; enrolled in 1875 and graduated in 1877 from Ruth Burritt's Normal School [Centennial Kindergarten Training School], Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a specialization in kindergarten education; one of the American teachers contracted by the end of the nineteenth century to work in Argentina; inspired by educator Mary Peabody Mann, she and her daughter Emily traveled first to London and then to Buenos Aires, Argentina, arriving on 24 August 1883; after founding and directing a kindergarten in Concepción, Uruguay in 1888, she returned to Paraná, Argentina, where she remained until 1897; she was the delegate of the Argentine government at the world-wide conference on kindergarden in Chicago, 1893; in 1899 she founded the International Kindergarten Society which became an affiliate of the International Council of Women; she died in her villa in the Belgrano district of Buenos Aires, 10 October 1916 and was buried in the British Cemetery of Buenos Aires)
